If you’ve been diagnosed with HIV or AIDS, or if you are experiencing symptoms relates to HIV/AIDS, Sunwest Pharmacy would like to guide you step-by-step through your medication options.  We are your full-service resource for HIV/AIDS medications and questions.  If our experience has taught us anything about HIV/AIDS, it is the following: Our clients deserve respect, compassion, and detailed information. HIV/AIDS can present complex symptoms as well as non-traditional medication treatment plans. Sunwest Pharmacy’s highly trained professionals stay up-to-date on the latest HIV/AIDS medications and trending regiments via the most thorough continuing education programs available. We are well educated in the complexities of HIV/AIDS and we will personalize, tailor, and then monitor your physician’s recommended regiment for your specific needs.

AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP Assist)

ADAP Assist provides access to medications used to treat HIV and prevent the onset of related opportunistic infections to low-income individuals with HIV disease who have limited or no coverage from private insurance or Medicaid.
As of January 1st, 2013, ADAP Assist medications in Arizona are dispensed through Sunwest Pharmacy, in addition to other approved pharmacies. Medications are shipped directly to “ADAP Assist”-eligible clients’ homes. There is also the option to pick up medications, as well as value information on HIV/AIDS, at our pharmacy in Phoenix, AZ.

  • Sunwest Pharmacy is pleased to announce the HIV Pharmacist™ designation (AAHIVP) of two Sunwest Pharmacy pharmacists: Joshua Walden, PharmD, AAHIVP, and Kelly Seabloom, Rph, AAHIVP. AAHIVP certification establishes documented accountability for quality care in the arena of HIV treatment, and communicates to the healthcare community Sunwest’s commitment to an up-to-date core knowledge of HIV care. Sunwest Pharmacy is among the few in Arizona with pharmacists who carry this specific certification.

    The American Academy of HIV Medicine began certifying HIV care providers in 2002, as a means of providing a widely recognized, statistically sound, and defensible measurement program available in HIV-focused medical care. In 2011, the AAHIVM began certifying pharmacists using a similar strict training and testing process for AAHIVP certification, giving HIV patients and HIV care providers a respected and uniform national standard to measure the quality of knowledge a pharmacist demonstrates in the HIV treatment process.
